After reading about the 2904 drive and record, something that I was previously unaware of, I began to wonder what I could do with the budget and rules laid out.
For a vehicle, I decided that a high-milage C5 Audi A6 Avant of questionable condition would be the perfect car. V6 makes a fair amount of power, plenty of room in rear for auxiliary fuel tanks and snacks, engine and transmission hold up fairly well (except for a few minor details...), and German wagon. I would of course, add radar detectors, police scanners, CB radio, and GPS as well.

So Oppo, if you were to run the 2904, what would your weapon of choice be? And how would you spec it out?

P71 with a gas tank that takes up the entire trunk...I think I could make it without stopping Well, not really, but it would be close since my P71’s trunk is comically large. More power would be good, but it's a solid highway car.

VE Chevy Caprice if money were no object. But for this challenge I'd have to agree with Thunderbolt.

Lul, that’s a C5. The B5 was for the A4.
I’d take my A6 sedan. Twin turbo, comfy and fast.

Oops, corrected, thanks

Fun fact: Jkm has owned both a C5 A6 and a B5 A4. He is also a massive Audi nerd.

The former I was not aware of, the latter however...

You just described my mom’s car exactly. Nice car but not what I’d choose. I think I’d go with a Volvo V70R. Similar logic, but a bit faster, a bit more subtle, and Volvo makes the best seats in the business.

Mildly built to about 500-600 HP from light supercharging, converted to run on either E85 or E10 90 octane, with a larger gas tank in the rear. Rear end gear set so there’s a low RPM cruise at around 120mph.
No one is going to question a dodge charger with a bunch of antennas going 100mph on the freeway. Maybe even throw in a fake siren, provided that cops don’t see it.

You realize there’s a budget of $2904 for everything including the car, right? You won’t be able to afford fuel or food if you buy one.

Sacrifices must be made, but I found a few examples on craigslist for 1600.

And is a $1600 example gonna make it across the country?
